Welcome to Bolenowe Animal Sanctuary

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Bolenowe Animal Sanctuary. We’ve worked hard to get where we are today. We now act not only as a sanctuary for previously neglected or otherwise vulnerable horses, but play a vital and growing role in preparing suitable horses and ponies for rehoming in new, loving homes.

Our experienced and highly skilled equine team work hard to bring incoming animals back to good health with love, care and nutritious food. The Bolenowe Animal Sanctuary was founded by Margaret Piper and registered as a charity in 1987, recently becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Now located on The Lizard in Cornwall we look after more than 70 horses and donkeys, either on our own farm or by monitoring their continued welfare in their new homes.

We’ve come a long way and there have been many changes in the way the Sanctuary is run. We’ve encountered many challenges, but no matter what we have faced, we’re proud to say that we have succeeded in always providing for our rescued animals.
